Today wile searching for art contest on the web, I came to a frighting conclusion, I am not an "artiest". I was confronted with students of four year liberal art collages, accomplished illustrators with impressive published work, photographers who have mastered lighting & composition & painters so creative that they use colors that I cant even dream in.
Yes I draw, paint, take photos & have even been known to "play with clay" but dose doing these things make me an artiest. Being creative & having creative outlets are really just ways that I cope with the stress in my life. I never went to art collage or had a job in the arts, no commissioned work or even a job at kinkos. So why am I trying to compete with the true artiest of the world? Am I trying to prove something to myself? or something to them?...who am I trying to impress?...Shit, where do I go from here?
